If fandom had gotten hold of Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go, it would have raised the stakes. There won't be any of this going gently into the night, there would be hope of salvation. I have been unfair to Peter. Bare is not just about Jason; it's also about Peter's acceptance of who he is and his growth and development as his own person as he moves away from his concept of himself as part of the Peter/Jason paradigm.
